What is the GFHC?

Welcome to the Gladwin Family Historical Collection.   This web site is a thank you from the Gladwin family of Jupiter, Florida, to our community, for the wonderful childhood memories we have of growing up in this idyllic town.  In his book My Jupiter Book , brother Dan Gladwin has captured many of these memories in words. Here, we have added a picture window to frame additional memories of yesterday’s Jupiter and other surrounding communities. This site is a work in process, so please give us your feedback on what we can do to make this site more enjoyable.

Skip Gladwin,

For all the Gladwin kids of Jupiter, Florida

Who is the Gladwin Family?

The Gladwin family started coming to West Palm Beach for vacations in the mid 1930’s. In 1946, at the completion of his WWII Navy service in Florida, our Dad, Ransom F. “Bud” Gladwin Jr., moved his family to the Jupiter area.  Bud, his wife Ann, and children Geri, Skipper and Dan lived in the Dubois home, atop the indian mound in Dubois Park during 1947-1948. The family moved to Pennock Point in 1952, where brother Steve and sister Gail were born.  In the early 1950’s Dad’s brother Dick, his wife, also named Ann, and their daughter Diane moved to Jupiter. Baby Judy was soon added to their family.  Soon after, grandparents, Ransom F. “Bud” Sr., and his wife Marjorie became Jupiter residences. To complete our family, Bud’s sister Jean Thorburn and her husband Grant also made Jupiter their home. Their two children are Ken and Marjorie.
